New Campus Bahia, Brazil

Gandys is extremely proud to announce our second major project in Brazil – supporting the Casa Amarela school near Porto Seguro, which is run by Milena Fernandes, an ex Chemical Technician who is now a full-time volunteer. She previously worked wonders at the other major Gandys project in Rio de Janeiro, Project Favela.

Casa Amarela gives children aged 7-16 from local and indigenous communities a safe space to spend their days away from drug trafficking, gang culture and extreme poverty. The wide range of educational activities focuses on art, culture and play, and encourages enthusiasm and creativity through films, theatre and dance.

Children are also given a grounding in maths, literacy, construction, engineering and science, skills that will give them a much better chance of helping themselves and their families to break the cycle of poverty.

Casa Amarela also offers a high quality extra-curricular environment that promotes wellbeing, sustainability and brings in local professionals to build a richer understanding of life and the work environment.

Here’s how your generosity is helping.

Thanks to your support, Gandys is able to cover monthly running costs, provide stationery supplies, pay the electricity bill and fund external teachers and other professionals to come in and take classes. The school is so small that is doesn’t have a fridge or stove, so we also fund snacks to keep the children going throughout the day.

Please give more with Gandys

We have big plans to fund even more amazing projects like this in 2024 and beyond, but we can’t do it without you.
