FOUNDATION

Inspired by Travel, Fuelled by giving back.

Gandys Foundation is the heart and soul of our business. Every time you buy from us, we donate. Your purchases help fund our life-changing Kids Campuses across the globe, aimed at providing education for children living in extreme poverty.

Set up in 2014 by Gandys brothers Rob and Paul, the Foundation was inspired by the loss of their parents in Sri Lanka during the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. Struck by the inequalities they saw travelling the world as kids, the brothers were fuelled by a life-long desire to give back.

Your custom and loyalty are all part of our continuing success story in helping build better futures – so thank you. We couldn’t do it without you!

OUR CAMPUSES

Sri Lanka

Our first Kids Campus opened in Sri Lanka in 2014. Gandys brothers Rob and Paul wanted to give back to the community who’d supported them after the 2004 tsunami.

Poverty amongst children in Sri Lanka is rife, with few able to access free education until the age of 6. As a result, they lack educational discipline and are less likely to complete GCE exams successfully compared with their financially secure peers. Gandys wanted to help redress the balance to give them an equal chance of success.

OUR CAMPUSES

Malawi

Our Malawi campus opened in 2017 in partnership with African Vision Malawi, whose project provides an entire community with care, education, nutrition and apprenticeships.

In Malawi, only 40% of primary aged children attend school; the pupil teacher ratio is 62/1, and only 25% get into secondary school. In an area struggling to find funding for a pre-school, Gandys stepped in to provide this much needed and valued facility.

OUR CAMPUSES

Nepal

Our third Kids Campus opened in 2019 in Godawari, Nepal, a remote area badly affected by the Gorkha earthquake in 2015 and where child trafficking is also a huge problem.

Gandys support the work of Chora Chori Nepal who rescue children who have been trafficked and provide subsequent accommodation, therapy and repatriation, and deal with eliminating the circumstances which force families to unwittingly sell their children – some as young as 9 – to traffickers.

OUR CAMPUSES

Brazil

In 2020, we opened our Kids Campus in Rio, Brazil to support vulnerable children by helping to break the cycle of them becoming involved in the world of drugs and gangs.

Gandys were inspired by Scott Miles of Project Favela, whose endless enthusiasm, passion and commitment towards offering these children tools to build a better future was something we wanted the Gandys Foundation to be part of.

OUR CAMPUSES

Mongolia

Our fifth campus opened in Mongolia in 2021, aimed at breaking the cycle of widespread, extreme poverty through education.

Imagine watching your child scavenge for rubbish for money to help bring in food for your family. These are the conditions that some of the families in Mongolia face in the poverty-stricken Ulaanchuluut landfills area. We work with Veloo Foundation – a charity helping orphans and disadvantaged children – to help set up a campus for the children to visit.

OUR CAMPUSES

Guatemala

Our sixth Kids Campus, based in Guatemala, is due to be completed in September 2023. It is aimed at giving more children from deprived, rural areas the chance to further their education.

Gandys discovered Casa Guatemala, a project providing pre-school to primary education for around 200 children in a remote jungle area. Children who face extreme poverty, abandonment or abuse live in dormitories on site and Gandys are funding the building of an additional dormitory to house and protect more children.
