As winter approaches, Gandys is once again partnering with the Veloo Foundation to support the Warm Winter Jackets Campaign in Mongolia, an initiative close to our hearts. Last year, thanks to your incredible support, they were able to provide over 600 children in Mongolia with warm, handmade, fair-trade winter deel jackets. We're excited to announce that we are continuing our support for this noble cause this year, and we invite our customers to join us in keeping the children of one of the coldest climates in the world warm and safe.

What is the Warm Jacket Winter Campaign, you might ask? It's a dual-purpose mission that aims to provide warm and versatile winter jackets based on the traditional Mongolian deel, a long coat that offers protection from the brutal Mongolian winter. These jackets come with essential features like a detachable hood, face guard, and pockets for added warmth.

Our goal this year is to provide jackets for more than 300 Mongolian children in need. In addition to helping these children, this initiative also creates employment opportunities and work experience for disadvantaged women from the Fran London Sewing Center and their Tushkhan Brand. By supporting this campaign, you're not only keeping children warm but also empowering women in need.

Mongolia is renowned for its extreme cold, with temperatures dropping to a bone-chilling -30 degrees Celsius during the winter nights. For the families living in traditional felt tents known as "gers," staying warm and safe becomes a formidable challenge. Many of these families have little to no income, which means they struggle to afford warm clothes, blankets, food, or fuel for heating their gers.

Over the past couple of years, Gandys and the Veloo Foundation have made a significant impact on Mongolian communities. We have helped to  build a community library and computer lab, allowing children access to an education and brighter prospects. The library provides a space for all the community to access books and the various courses on offer.

We've provided over 600 deel jackets to children in the Ulaanchuluut community and to the Tsaatan people living in the north of the country. With your support, we have been able to make a real difference in the lives of these children, giving them the warmth and comfort they deserve. 

The cost of providing a jacket to a child in need is just $29 USD or £23 GBP. Every donation received as part of the Winter Warmth Jacket Campaign goes directly to the project and is used to produce and deliver jackets to the children who need them the most.
